Well, then I can probably do it for you. I am a writer by education, by training, and by profession. I've been writing professionally for about 12 years now and have worked on a variety of projects throughout my career including technical documents and manuals—both print and online—help systems, job aids, training materials, web sites, technical articles, white papers, marketing materials, employee handbooks, proposals, policy manuals, reports of all kinds, corproate communication pieces, newsletters, and the list goes on. I've written speeches and presentations for senior executives and have "ghost written" for many busy and prominent professionals. I have worked across a number of industries and sectors, and consider myself a very versatile writer. I can do it. I am trained and experienced in the editing process and can assist you with your editing at all levels: development, coordination, policy, integrity, screening, clarification, format, mechanics, language, and substantive. I can be as hands-on or as hands-off as your project needs demand. I can assist in the development of your document—helping to steer it to best meet the needs of the audience, the purpose, and situational constraints. As an experienced and trained rhetorician, I am skilled at making the best choices to achieve the purpose of any given piece of writing or document. Or, if you'd like, I can assist later in the development process, working as a copyeditor or a proofreader. If you know what you need, I'd be happy to accommodate you. I am both an experienced trainer and a teacher. For nearly a decade, I have been developing and delivering custom training solutions for corporate clients. From technology training to professional communications to team building, I have successfully trained hundreds of individuals over the course of the years. As a writer, I can develop and manage the production of custom training materials to meet your requirements at all levels, as well as the needs of your trainees. Such materials include trainer/instructor handbooks, student workbooks, flipcharts, online support materials, quick reference cards, and so forth. As a trained and experienced teacher, I can deliver traditional instructor-led training or, if you'd like, I can assist or drive the development of an online training solution. I could also train your trainers to deliver the program themselves. Flexibility, is the key here. I can be as involved as you'd like. Solid research is at the heart of just about any successful project—whether it be a business case, a white paper, a marketing analysis or, perhaps, a grant proposal, a textbook, an article, or even a novel. You can't get very far without solid research and solid research is not something that comes easily. That's where I can help. I've been doing serious research across many different areas since 1994. I know my way around information and know where to find reliable sources. Depending on the needs of your project, I can survey a multitude of secondary and primary sources to get the most timely, reliable information available to support and propel your project forward. I can deliver research to you in any number of ways, ranging from detailed formal reports to less formal briefing meetings or oral presentations. If you'd like, I can even help synthesize the research findings with your own project documentation. I am flexible, versatile, and effective. Tell me what you need and I can find it. Project management, human performance, corporate communications, organizational behavior, organizational learning, change management, documentation control, knowledge management—these are a few subjects I know something about. For a number of years, I worked as a practice lead for an IT/management consulting firm in the Chicagoland area. This role afforded me the opportunity to work with and lead teams in consulting projects that spanned across a number of industries and sectors including bio/pharma, chemicals, consumer products, financial services, manufacturing, contract packaging, apparel & footwear, telecom & media, education, and government.
