Short Film of Updike's "A & P"

I found this little 17 minute film of Updike's short story "A & P" at iFilm.com. I knew it existed, but didn't think it would be that easy to find. Updike's story is amazing in its subtleties. The film's not too bad either. And check out Sean Patrick Hayes (Jack from "Will and Grace") as Sammy.

This blog is a series of notes and ramblings regarding the life of a community college writing teacher. The content is bound by no artificial constraint. Who knows what you might find here. Hi, I'm Mike McGuire. I am an English teacher at a community college in Illinois and I love it. I really do. I love my job. I wasn't always a teacher. In fact, this is just my third year teaching full-time. Before that I taught part-time for a number of years at other colleges, but spent my day hours frittering time away as an IT/management consultant in the business world. Now, don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with working in business if it's right for you. It just wasn't right for me. So, I made a change to do what I love—teach. So far, I am a much happier and satisfied person. Drop me a line if you have time. I'm always interested in interesting people.
