About this site
Hi. I'm Mike McGuire and writing101.net is my site. I am a writing teacher at a community college near Chicago, Illinois, USA. I first conceived of this site as I found myself wanting to connect to other teaching professionals interested in creative dialogue and the exchange of ideas—both practical and theoretical.
I am also very interested in helping students of writing—those currently in my classes, those who have passed through my classes already, and those I have yet even to meet. What better way, I thought, to extend my reach than through the Web. It is my sincere hope that this site will be useful to students everywhere.
This site is young. It certainly doesn't house an exhaustive set of resources for all things related to teaching and learning writing. However, I don't pretend to have all the answers. Instead, what I want to achieve here is a place that we can build together through collaboration, through the free exchange of ideas, and through an ongoing dialogue. I hope that together we can build a robust set of resources that we can all benefit from. I also hope that we can build a community of teachers, learners, and writers—as that is the most valuable resource of them all.
Please send your ideas, your links, your documents, snippets of your writing, whatever you think belongs here and would be useful to others. I'm open to anything.
— Mike
