Friday morning, 15 minutes before my classes. It's been an exhausting week for a variety of reasons. The most likely of which is an avergae of 4 hours of sleep a night. The students are good. I just need more sleep and a shorter commute.
I can understand how you feel, but hang in there and keep up the good work. Looking forward to reading about your class adventures with all your students.
This blog is a series of notes and ramblings regarding the life of a community college writing teacher. The content is bound by no artificial constraint. Who knows what you might find here. It's a testing ground and a ventilation shaft. All comments are welcome. When you're done here, check out writing101.net for all kinds of resources on writing: teaching it, learning it, doing it.
About Me
Name: Mike McGuire
Location: Chicagoland,
Hi, I'm Mike McGuire. I am an English teacher at a community college in Illinois and I love it. I really do. I love my job. I wasn't always a teacher. In fact, this is just my third year teaching full-time. Before that I taught part-time for a number of years at other colleges, but spent my day hours frittering time away as an IT/management consultant in the business world. Now, don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with working in business if it's right for you. It just wasn't right for me. So, I made a change to do what I love—teach. So far, I am a much happier and satisfied person. Drop me a line if you have time. I'm always interested in interesting people.
